Capture a region

  1. Click the dedicated Region button for immediate capture, or choose Capture and then Capture region.
  2. SnagFrame hides its window and prepares a native-resolution selection layer on every enabled display.
  3. Move directly to any display and place the pointer at one corner of the area you want.
  4. Drag across the content and release when the selection is correct.
  5. The captured region opens in the editor, ready for markup.
Using multiple monitorsEvery connected display becomes selectable at the same time, similar to Windows Snipping Tool. Move to the display you want and drag—there is no monitor picker or keyboard shortcut. Each display uses its native size and scaling, and the selection stays within the display where the drag begins.
If the selector flashes and closesConfirm you are running SnagFrame 0.1.36 or later. Earlier multi-display builds could start an overlay before the shared capture image was ready.
A clean selection viewSnagFrame fully disappears before selection begins, stays hidden while you choose a region, and returns after capture or cancellation. Its window should not appear in the selector or completed capture. If it does, confirm you are running SnagFrame 0.1.37 or later and contact support with your Windows version and display configuration.

Capture the full screen

Choose full-screen capture when the surrounding desktop, window arrangement, or overall state is important. You can remove unnecessary edges later by selecting the area you want to keep.

Choose a clean capture area

If the result is blankTry the capture again after reopening SnagFrame. Protected video and administrator-level windows may prevent Windows capture tools from reading their contents.

Quick capture buttons (version 0.1.41)

Two neutral icon buttons sit beside Capture. The left region icon starts region selection. The right video-camera icon opens Pro recording setup. Each button keeps its position and icon.

Coming in version 0.1.42

The default region shortcut changes to Ctrl+Alt+S to avoid browser hard-refresh conflicts. Keyboard shortcut customization will be available on Free and Pro in Settings. Until that update is available in Microsoft Store, version 0.1.41 uses Ctrl+Shift+R.
